IPL Therapy at Abraza Skin Studio
IPL, or LimeLight is a non-invasive treatment sometimes referred to as a photo facial or photo rejuvenation. Due to genetics, the normal aging process and sun damage, the skin can develop dark spots. IPL is a light therapy that will help restore the skin’s lost radiance. IPL will improve sun and age spots, redness from Rosacea, and lightening of freckles. It is effective on all fair skin complexions.
Unlike other lasers, IPL technology is broad spectrum consisting of multiple wavelengths vs a limited single wavelength of light.
It is safe on all areas of the body and the most commonly treated areas are those affected by the sun including the face, neck, chest, arms, and hands.
The Cutera XEO Laser is used for the treatment. A cool gel is applied to the skin and the handheld device is moved over the lesions. The light pulses warm the melanin destroying them and allowing the body to safely eliminate them. The dark areas will come to surface and flake off as new skin moves upwards within 7-10 days.
Hypopigmentation is a rare possible side effect. However, we are well trained and take every precaution.
The procedure takes about 30 minutes. There may be redness or minimal swelling. If this occurs, it usually resolved within a day. Cleansing, and makeup applications can be done immediately after treatment. The treated site should not be shaved for 24 hours, nor waxed for 72 hours. Strict sun protection, of course, including an spf 30 or higher for exposed areas is necessary after photorejuvenation and healthy skin care lifestyle.
